NGWE SAUNG: MYANMAR SURFING TRUE OF FALSE?

NGWE SAUNG: Myanmar surfing true or false?

SURFING SOUTH EAST ASIA | SURFING IN MYANMAR

The main reason I visited Ngwe Saung was to find out more about the surfing scene.

I spent my first day exploring and asking people about surfing and water activities. Unfortunately no-one was able to provide me with any information.
By the end of the day I came across the only place in Ngwe Saung (currently in all Myanmar) renting surf boards and organising lessons.

The place is called ‘Ngwe Saung Yacht Club and Resort’. They have a few soft boards and a couple of hard boards in different sizes.  http://www.ngwesaungyachtclub.com/

I knew dry season wasn’t the best time for surfing but I was still able to catch some fun little waves.
The club organises a lot of other activities, such as wind surfing, kite boarding and boat trips. The massive shallow shore turned out to be great for skim boarding.

USEFUL INFORMATION:

How to get there:

There are few morning busses from Yangon to Ngwe Saung, the journey is between 6 to 7 hours with a lunch stop. IMPORTANT: The busses to Ngwe Saung leave from Hlaing Thar Yar station in Yangon (also known as Dagon Ayar ). This is a different and smaller station than the one you normally use to go to the main cities ( Bagan, Mandalay, Inla lake, etc..)

Around Ngwe Saung:

You can rent a motorcycle (you don’t need a driving license) for 10 000-12 000 kyat per day or a bicycle.

Activities:

Surfing, Boat trips with Snorkelling, wind surfing, kite surfing, boogie and skim board, scuba diving, banana boats, fishing trips.
